American dream

The American dream is so far what it use to be.
We can no longer afford basic needs
Frightened people scurry the streets
While others live check to check
To survive at least

Middle class dimishing
Lay offs. Cut backs. Raised costs. Foreclosed.
At what cost?

A divided country we’ve become
Arguing and arguing
Waiting on solutions to come

There is no unity for we attack without thought
Not really listening
Not living just existing
It’s not the life we planned out

Rich and poor the last to stand
Homeless raising
Families separated
Pollution worsening
Religion being shut down

Silent voices. People think twice to speak their beliefs. Afraid of the opinions of others who disagree. Is this the America we wish to see?
What is the price for us to feel free?
